Convert.rest is a free Word ⇄ PDF converter built on a radical premise: your documents are none of our business. Every conversion runs entirely in your browser — no uploads, no servers, no accounts.
Why client-side conversion matters
Most online converters upload your document to a server, process it there, and then promise to delete it. We designed Convert.rest so that there is nothing to delete: the conversion engine — built on Mammoth, PDF.js, pdf-lib and the DOCX libraries — executes locally in your browser tab. Contracts, invoices and confidential reports never leave your device.
How is it free?
Because we have no conversion servers to run, our operating costs are a fraction of a classic converter site. There are no premium tiers, no watermarks, no daily quotas and no account walls — just a fast, private tool.
What’s next
Scanned-PDF-to-Word via in-browser OCR (Tesseract.js), a Web Worker pipeline for very large files, and PDF/A archival export. Privacy-first will remain the non-negotiable core.
