Terms of Service

1. The service

Convert.rest provides free browser-based conversion between Word and PDF formats. The service is available without registration, without watermarks, and without usage limits.

It converts DOC, DOCX, RTF and ODT files to PDF, and text-based PDF files to editable DOCX documents, in single-file or batch mode, with files up to 50 MB each. Because conversion executes entirely on your device, we are not responsible for connection-related interruptions beyond what your own browser and device allow.

2. Your content stays yours

Your documents are processed on your device and never uploaded. You retain all rights to your files at all times; we claim no license over any content you convert.

We do not see, store, or host the documents you convert, which is why no content-related claims can ever arise from our handling of them: there is no transfer of any document to us at any stage.

3. Acceptable use

You may only convert files you have the right to process. You must not use the service for unlawful content or to violate third-party rights. Automated bulk abuse that interferes with the service for others is not permitted; ordinary batch conversion of your own documents, however large, is always welcome.

4. No warranty

The service is provided "as is". While we continuously improve conversion quality, we do not guarantee that every document converts perfectly — especially files with unusual fonts, encryption, or corruption. Always verify the output before relying on it.

Conversion quality depends on the source file and on your browser version. If a document fails, try the documented workarounds (for example, saving a legacy .doc file as .docx first) before reporting the issue.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Because files never leave your device, loss of originals through our service is technically impossible.

Our total liability in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid for it — which, since the service is free, means no monetary damages are owed. Statutory rights that cannot be waived remain unaffected.

6. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be noted on this page with a new revision date. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

7. Intellectual property

The Convert.rest name, branding, the converter interface and the written content on this site are protected by applicable law. Nothing in these terms grants you rights to them. You may of course use the service, download the guides and share this page — we ask only that you do not replicate the site wholesale.

8. Third-party links

The guides and the comparison page mention and link to third-party services for informational purposes. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or data practices. A link is not an endorsement.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which the operator of Convert.rest is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We will make every reasonable effort to resolve any dispute amicably before formal proceedings.

10. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. The invalid provision is replaced by one that comes closest in meaning, applied to the fullest extent permitted by law.
