HTML to Markdown — Convert HTML to Markdown Online

Paste any HTML — an article, an email template, a component snippet — and convert it to clean Markdown in one click. Active content is removed, tables and lists survive, and the whole conversion stays in this tab.

This tool runs entirely in your browser — your files and text never leave this tab.

Conversion runs entirely in this tab. The pasted HTML is parsed and rewritten locally with a DOM parser — no request, beacon or log ever carries your markup.

Supported formats

  • Input: any HTML fragment or full page pasted into the textarea.
  • Output: GFM Markdown with ATX headings, fenced code blocks, tables and task lists.
  • Script, style, iframe and <noscript> blocks are removed before conversion.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Paste the HTML

Copy the HTML snippet or page source into the textarea.

  2. 2

    Convert it

Click Convert. The markup is parsed and rewritten right in this tab.

  3. 3

    Copy or download

Copy the Markdown or download it as a .md file.

What this tool does

An HTML fragment is parsed into a real DOM, every script, style, iframe, noscript and stylesheet link is removed, and the remaining content is rewritten as GitHub-flavored Markdown. Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, links and code blocks keep their meaning, so the result reads cleanly in any Markdown environment from README files to note-taking apps.

Who it is for

Developers pulling text out of a CMS or email HTML for a wiki, designers converting component markup into documentation, writers turning a web article into an editable note, and support teams transcribing emailed snippets into tickets — all without uploading the HTML.

Why scripts are stripped

The converter deletes script and style blocks before producing text. That keeps the output free of executable markup and means the Markdown you paste elsewhere cannot carry the original page’s behavior — only its text and structure.

Copy-friendly output

Tables are kept as pipe tables, code is fenced with the language from the HTML class when present, and links stay inline so the result works in GitHub, GitLab, Notion, Obsidian and most editors without tweaking.

Limitations

  • Output is plain Markdown: layout, colors and fonts do not carry over.
  • The converted text is capped at a practical editor length so the tab stays responsive.
  • Only the visible document content is converted; scripts and styles are never kept.

Frequently asked questions

No. The input is parsed locally with the browser’s DOM parser and converted in this tab. Nothing is sent to a server, so nothing can be logged or stored.
